Research profile
Erik van der Vleuten is Professor of History of Technology and Chair of the Eindhoven History Lab at Eindhoven University of Technology. He also serves as scientific director of the Foundation for the History of Technology SHT. He is a co-founder and past Chair of the pan-European research community Tensions of Europe and currently coordinates that community’s 2nd umbrella research program Technology and Societal Challenges 1800-2050.
Erik’s areas of expertise include transnational history of technology, transnational critical infrastructure, sustainability transitions, and the historical interactions of engineering and societal challenges. He is currently exploring the notion of a global sustainability history.
